A 43-year-old Alexandria woman has been arrested after Louisiana State Police alleged she used false Social Security numbers to collect more than $41,000 in casino jackpots while avoiding overdue child support.
Police say Shamika Brown collected 16 jackpots totaling more than $41,000 at L’Auberge Casino Baton Rouge in 2020. She allegedly provided false identifying information to conceal the winnings from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.
Investigators also allege Brown collected nearly $2,500 from another Baton Rouge casino in 2023 using false information.
In October 2024, Brown allegedly supplied additional fake Social Security numbers while attempting to claim a $1,264 jackpot at L’Auberge. The incident led to an arrest warrant issued by the 19th Judicial District Court.
The Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division began investigating after the casino reported suspected fraud on October 15, 2024. On September 21, 2026, an investigator recognized Brown at the casino as she allegedly returned to collect the pending payout.
Troopers arrested Brown on the warrant and booked her into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on 18 counts of bank fraud and identity theft. The investigation is ongoing, and police say additional charges may be filed.
